The Amazing Problems

Scenario:

Tim dated a girl, Yvette, for several months before breaking up in late September last year. She became great friends with his core group of friends (his second family) and especially Nathan. About a week and a half ago, Nathan said he needed to talk to Tim and apologize.

When he began to describe to Tim that he had no control over the situation and his feelings, that he wanted to say sorry for what he was about to say, Tim began to smile. Then laughter escaped from his lungs and gasped out of his mouth. Nathan said that he and Yvette had begun to grow feelings for each other intimately. Tim simply responded with, "It's about damn time."

Tim made the decision not to care if one of his best friends wanted to and was dating his recent ex. He said to himself and eventually to Yvette that there is a reason why they weren't dating anymore...it's over. He is still friends with her and would like both Nathan and Yvette to be happy, and if they feel intimately for each other and happiness derives from that, then Tim was and is all for that.

FICTIONAL RECONSTRUCTION:

Tim dated a girl, Yvette, for several months before breaking up in late September last year. She became great friends with his core group of friends (his second family) and especially Nathan. About a week and a half ago, Nathan said he needed to talk to Tim and apologize.

When he began to describe to Tim that he had no control over the situation and his feelings, that he wanted to say sorry for what he was about to say, Tim began to smile. Then laughter escaped from his lungs and gasped out of his mouth. Nathan said that he and Yvette had begun to grow feelings for each other intimately.

Tim's body began to shake as the blood flooded feverishly into the veins of his being. WIth his left hand in his pocket, the chapstick rolled perfectly into his clenched fist.

Nathan clasped his hands together and apologized numerous times nervously awaiting a response from Tim.

Finally he looked at Nathan and said, "Fine. Be happy with each other."

He stood up and went to shake hands with the guy who was now kissing and sleeping with his most ex-girlfriend.

'Just get over it' he was telling himself.

As the feet between the two diminished, their outstretched arms with open hands grasped one anothers and their eyes locked. The moment fleeted away and Nathan spoke, "I'm glad we were able to come to an understanding and that we're still friends."

Tim smiled and agree. They walked out of the house together so that each would leave their respective ways, with a mutual friendship still in tact.

He laughed.

Nathan turned to him puzzled. When he was fully spun around towards Tim, facing him, his face was met with a fist.

With Nathan lying on his back, blood streaming from his nose, Tim laughed again and said, "Who the fuck are you kidding? How could you betray me and go behind my back? Most of all, how could you fall for my ex? You are a piece of shit friend and she's a fucking bitch."

He walked away and turmoil ensued between the trio and trickled down to his second family.

ANALYSIS:

Now Tim has lost two friends.

Was able to be predictable.

He couldn't get over a should-be non-existent jealousy.

His second family is now forced to choose sides.

He has alienated himself and hurt those around him.

...What a miserable end to this. Good thing it happened the original way!
