My Blog Experience

My blogging experience.

Well this wasn't the first blog that I've done but it definitely was the most detail-oriented.

I had high ambitions and multiple sources of inspiration for what this blog should have been.

For what was required for the class, I came to meet the requirements. But, for my own personal wants it fell short.

Partially, this was a cause of multiple distractions and abscences of material. The distractions would include my other classes and other projects for this class. I decided to join and become highly active in different classes and activities. But this is not much of an excuse.

Mostly, it was difficult to write stories (blog posts) to match the exact wants and needs of my mission statement. I wrote a good number of stories that fit into my mission statement and intended goal but I felt like I was lacking.

Perhaps, after this class I will be able to follow more closely and add a greater number of blog posts that fit my mission statement (since it is important to me).

But my mission and goal for this blog was very narrowly defined and it kind of bit me in the behind.

I would like to apologize to those who felt I didn't reach their expectations. I will do better after this.

Besides that, I DID have a great time writing what I wrote.

There was an exhiliration that overwhelmed while I re-created life experiences that I experienced personally or witnessed in others around me.

Each uniquely meant something to me and had connection to anyone with emotion flowing through their bodies.

I will eventually (in the very near future), rewrite a new blog. The reason why this particular site won't continue via this site is because it was another beta test for me for blogging.

The link will be posted on here for my new blog within the next two weeks.

Thank you for your time and for reading this.

DREAMWEAVER PROJECT

Welcome to MY E-Portfolio

Here is my e-portfolio in which I present to you my four projects I did for my Mass Communications 63 (New Media) class: (in order from first project to most recent) Blog Banner, InDesign Project, Dreamweaver Project, Video Podcast

1. Blog Banner

For the next two projects, click on the highlighted link and snapshots are provided below.

2. InDesign Project

3. Dreamweaver Project

For this last project, the Video Podcast, I chose to make a video about the Civil Rights and Inauguration tour I and nine other students from SJSU's school of Journalism and Mass Communication embarked on over the winter break of 2009.

It's a collection of pictures from the trip of each student and the places we visited and recaptured the history in a modern context. (Unfortunately short in the amount of time for the video because we had to make the video portion, excluding the credits, within three minutes).

Thank you.

CHUCK beta website: NBC RENEW CHUCK

This is the Dreamweaver project I did for my class.

It is a rough design for a CHUCK website showing the awesomeness of CHUCK and the hopes that NBC will renew the show.

Gai-jin

Before we begin, we must know the definition of what gai-jin means.

Gai-jin: FOREIGNER.

It is a Japanese word that means foreigner, outsider.

SCENARIO:

I found myself alone and wondering why I was that way at the moment. Around me, were hundreds of people and all were interacting and speaking with one another.

Myself?

Quiet and silent.

It was an interesting position to be in for I wished to talk with everyone around me but my body and mouth was frozen.

The only word going through my mind: gai-jin.

Yes I will admit, I do not know Japanese language and I definitely cannot speak it (as much as I want to). Currently, I am reading a book, GAI-JIN by James Clavell, that has taught me just a few words (and yes, I checked that these words were true and not made up for the book).

I felt like a foreigner, an outsider with these many people. Each person seemingly unique, whether this is their true personality or just a face each puts on in hopes of creating a perceived persona.

Two hours went by and I mananged to talk with but three people. Absolutely pathetic.

Come to find out three weeks later, there were people looking to speak to me about a trip that I recently had embarked on.

FICTIONAL RECONSTRUCTION:

I walked into the room, more like a ballroom...aka HUGE...and realized that I was surrounded by hundreds of prospects of intelligence and networking. Each person a goldmine for furthering my career and enriching my relationships.

With this knowledge, my intention was to speak and interact with as many people as possible while earning and maintaining a newfound relationship with those that I will speak with.

I met recruiters for possible career opportunities and even some business executives and political strategists.

It was a wonderful two hours and found myself happy and satisfied with kicking open doors all throughout that event.

Never did I feel like a gai-jin.

ANALYSIS:

I am not going to let this happen again. The opportunities and networking that could have come about if I had spoken and presented myself visibly to the mass of people are too huge.

This is a rare occurence and I vow to not let this happen again.

The Other Focus of This Site: My Interest in the Media

Over a month ago, I had, saved AND ready in my phone calednder to alarm and remind me to breathe in the possible doomsday of May 4, 2009.

This day, May 4, was the day that NBC announced it's fall schedule for the 2009/2010 year. There had been buzz all over that CHUCK would be cancelled for the weeks before. This has been the best show on TV since Scrubs was introduced over eight years ago. And by a long shot, it's better than any. It's not only my favorite but is also my family's favorite and many of my friend's favorite TV show.

Come May 4...I read the contract and the shows that NBC announced for it's 2009/2010 fall lineup and CHUCK was nowhere to be found.

Fortunately and unfortunately the executives of NBC have left us, their audience, in limbo. This is fortunate because they have left a glimpse of hope that CHUCK will return. Why? Because on May 19, 2009, the announcement will come for CHUCK (and two other shows that should be cut).

P.S. NBC, why did you bring Jay Leno to your network? He is a crappy host, completely NOT funny, and is beyond washed up.

Choosing Silence for Liberation

Scenario:

John, 19 years-old, had decided to ask his girlfriend Arianna, 21 years-old, what she was going to do for the day because he said he was bored. She said that she planned to hang out with her old friend Ben and he was taking her out to dinner that night.

He said okay and left it at that. She thought nothing of it and he tried to think nothing of it.

Unfortunately that didn't work and he became sorely insecure.

Arianna eventually turned off her cell phone and began ignoring John after his many texts and calls about him worrying about her cheating on him. She had told him there was nothing between Ben and her but John refused to believe it. Soon thereafter these two broke up and shared no contact afterwards.

FICTIONAL RECONSTRUCTION:

John, 19 years-old, had decided to ask his girlfriend Arianna, 21 years-old, what she was going to do for the day because he said he was bored. She said that she planned to hang out with her old friend Ben and he was taking her out to dinner that night.

He said okay and left it at that. She thought nothing of it and he did think nothing of it.

She had told Eric months ago (after two and half years of dating) that he was on her mind in the most deep and loving way possible. He believed her and told her he felt the same.

That night when Arianna and Ben went out, they caught up with one another and connected the same way they had years ago: best friends: brother and sister. Eric went out and played basketball with his friends and random people.

Eric and Ben became good friends and Eric asked Ben to be one of his groomsmen at his and Arianna's wedding.

Monday Nights Entertain to Utopia

Chuck is the best overall show on television with Heroes following just behind it. Ironically both of these fall on monday nights on NBC. In accordance with the Pacific time zone, Chuck appears on at 8 p.m and Heroes proceeds it at 9 p.m.

Both of these shows force the mind to wrap around multiple concepts at any given time. All the characters are vital and each actor that portrays the character is perfectly cast. The stories are amazing.

Chuck has all though: Drama, action, comedy, love, hatred, anger, and all the emotions, along with great acting and scene setting.

Heroes is amazing and dark. That's the best thing about it. Not afraid to step out of boundaries while keeping boundaries and restrictions for all the characters.

Surprise parties

Scenario

My friend (to remain anonyomous) sent a text to Victoria, ruining her surprise 21st birthday party that myself and two others had been planning for over a week.

I almost lost it because it took so much damn effort to pull this off and not get caught but this friend ruined it. But fortunately after thirty minutes or so, I realized that this would actually help the surprise party.

The final decision came down to this: The three party planners (again, including myself) decided to tell everyone that her party was the following Sunday and she was completely skeptical, still believing it to be the Saturday night before.

I took Victoria out to dinner at the Elephant Bar and took her back to her house after eating where she believed the party to be. No one but her parents were home so she became oblivious as to what was to happen next. We left and went to dessert at Flames and walked around Santana Row as the people began to pour in and set up her surprise party at her house.

We came back about an hour and a half later.

She was happy and tearful with joy when she was actually surprised by her friends. And the rest of the night was amazing, celebrating her 21st birthday.

FICTIONAL RECONSTRUCTION:

My friend (to remain anonyomous) sent a text to Victoria, ruining her surprise 21st birthday party that myself and two others had been planning for over a week.

I lost it and refused to plan out the rest of the party because I was so damn frustrated and pissed off.

Victoria's party came around and no more was her party a surprise. It was still a good party but she didn't enjoy it nearly as much as if she had been surprised.

The Amazing Problems

Scenario:

Tim dated a girl, Yvette, for several months before breaking up in late September last year. She became great friends with his core group of friends (his second family) and especially Nathan. About a week and a half ago, Nathan said he needed to talk to Tim and apologize.

When he began to describe to Tim that he had no control over the situation and his feelings, that he wanted to say sorry for what he was about to say, Tim began to smile. Then laughter escaped from his lungs and gasped out of his mouth. Nathan said that he and Yvette had begun to grow feelings for each other intimately. Tim simply responded with, "It's about damn time."

Tim made the decision not to care if one of his best friends wanted to and was dating his recent ex. He said to himself and eventually to Yvette that there is a reason why they weren't dating anymore...it's over. He is still friends with her and would like both Nathan and Yvette to be happy, and if they feel intimately for each other and happiness derives from that, then Tim was and is all for that.

FICTIONAL RECONSTRUCTION:

Tim dated a girl, Yvette, for several months before breaking up in late September last year. She became great friends with his core group of friends (his second family) and especially Nathan. About a week and a half ago, Nathan said he needed to talk to Tim and apologize.

When he began to describe to Tim that he had no control over the situation and his feelings, that he wanted to say sorry for what he was about to say, Tim began to smile. Then laughter escaped from his lungs and gasped out of his mouth. Nathan said that he and Yvette had begun to grow feelings for each other intimately.

Tim's body began to shake as the blood flooded feverishly into the veins of his being. WIth his left hand in his pocket, the chapstick rolled perfectly into his clenched fist.

Nathan clasped his hands together and apologized numerous times nervously awaiting a response from Tim.

Finally he looked at Nathan and said, "Fine. Be happy with each other."

He stood up and went to shake hands with the guy who was now kissing and sleeping with his most ex-girlfriend.

'Just get over it' he was telling himself.

As the feet between the two diminished, their outstretched arms with open hands grasped one anothers and their eyes locked. The moment fleeted away and Nathan spoke, "I'm glad we were able to come to an understanding and that we're still friends."

Tim smiled and agree. They walked out of the house together so that each would leave their respective ways, with a mutual friendship still in tact.

He laughed.

Nathan turned to him puzzled. When he was fully spun around towards Tim, facing him, his face was met with a fist.

With Nathan lying on his back, blood streaming from his nose, Tim laughed again and said, "Who the fuck are you kidding? How could you betray me and go behind my back? Most of all, how could you fall for my ex? You are a piece of shit friend and she's a fucking bitch."

He walked away and turmoil ensued between the trio and trickled down to his second family.

ANALYSIS:

Now Tim has lost two friends.

Was able to be predictable.

He couldn't get over a should-be non-existent jealousy.

His second family is now forced to choose sides.

He has alienated himself and hurt those around him.

...What a miserable end to this. Good thing it happened the original way!

Mission Statement

The purpose of this blog is to rewrite history and stimulate imagination, then to realize one's own decision process.

I'm going to take everyday scenarios that I either take part in or see. Then, after the set scenario ends. I will describe the results (if available).

Now the fun part occurs next. Everything written thus far will have been true and factual but after that...the imagination will kick in like an adrenaline rush does when one begins doing something physical or is being aroused. I will change the scenario completely and the decisions made, then write what I believe would occur there after (or make up a quite possible scenario).

This may include my own decisions or those of others. The end resuts may be better or may be worse than the original but never the same. I will also never refer to myself and will be layed out in 3rd person.

If you would like to comment or write up your own scenario please do so. Demonstrate how you came to your decisions and what occured after. Then imagine deciding something different and write the believed results thereafter.

Enjoy or don't enjoy. You decide.

Challenges and Opportunities for Bloggers

Blogging presents both challenges and opportunities, especially if one is interested in journalism, advertisement, photojournalism, or public relations.

Some of the challenges are that a blog has no set rules or laws but a standard should be followed by those who create and write on a blog (and those who comment others'). A blogger must be aware and must avoid provocative language (if involving oneself in the professional world). Be aware that others are free to express their opinions for or against one's writing but this is encouraged and should not be discouraged at any time.

The opportunites that arise from blogging create both social and professional advantages in the world. Blogging is a way to communicate to and with the world in an evolving environment. If one's goal is to blog professionally, a blog will enhance one's writing style and creativity to show and may act as part of a resume for an interested business or company.

The opportunites don't end here and will continue as long as honesty and professionalism is followed through with.
